Police have thanked the public for rallying after an alleged violent assault on a Great Western Railway staff member.
Police have thanked the public for rallying after an alleged violent assault on a Great Western Railway staff member.
The alert was sounded on on Sunday October 19 at Dawlish Railway Station.
Teignmouth and Dawlish police said on their Facebook page: "Whilst our local response officer located the victim in and out of consciousness, local NPT officer PC Miller located two suspects in a nearby bus stop and on arresting them was assaulted before both were taken into police custody, with the response officer being injured on assisting."#
They added: "We would like to thank the multiple members of the public from Dawlish who embodied the best of the Dawlish community in assisting to restrain the two suspects and who offered support, with one member of the public sustaining injuries from being kicked to the face, who will be nominated for public commendation."
The investigation is being led by the British Transport Police.
