Family, friends and members of the fishing community paid a poignant tribute to Brixham Fishermen's Mission port officer Paul Jarrett.

Helen Lovell-Smith, Mission area officer for Devon, was asked by Paul before he passed away to take his scattering of ashes and memorial service 'in the place he and his family loved'.

Paul served in Brixham between 1983 and 1996 when the centre reopened op Overgang.

Helen said that as her 'Mission man growing up', she and many others in Brixham held Paul in upmost respect.

A boat was boarded  and a short service was held out at sea where it was hoped a flotilla of trawlers would also pay their respects.

Following his scattering of ashes at sea, there was a memorial service for Paul at the Brixham Methodist Church.
