Paignton Green once again played host to one of the Bay’s most loved traditions as the 78th Torbay Children’s Week brought families together for five days of free entertainment.
From 19 to 23 August, thousands of local residents and visitors enjoyed a packed programme of shows, games and activities on the seafront. Children’s Week has been a highlight of the summer holidays for generations, with many who once joined in now returning as parents, grandparents or volunteers.
This year’s line-up featured everything from stage shows, circus skills and live music to the ever-popular gunging sessions. Special appearances from Cosmo, Borneo Again, Rob Pudner, Luke Sky Walker and a host of film cars and performers kept crowds smiling throughout.
Behind the scenes, the event is run entirely by volunteers and relies on the support of local businesses, sponsors and public donations. Without this generosity, organisers say, the tradition could not continue. A raffle held during the week raised more than £700 towards future events, while countless businesses donated prizes and services.
The week ended with thanks to the many performers, traders, crew and kitchen teams who gave their time, as well as the families who came down to the Green to take part.
Organisers have already confirmed provisional dates for next summer, with the 79th Torbay Children’s Week set for 18–22 August 2026.
