Mercure Hotels has announced that its new four-star hotel in Paignton will open its doors to visitors and local residents from tomorrow (Thursday, April 6).
The Mercure Paignton Hotel - which is owned by Singapore-based Fragrance Group, franchised by the world-class Accor group and operated by RBH Hospitality - will offer guests an exceptionally unique and special leisure and dining experience.
Situated in a prime location on the seafront, with stunning views of the coast, promenade, pier and beach, the art deco-inspired hotel includes 161 bedrooms, a glass-fronted restaurant and a two-tier Mediterranean-style terrace complete with an outside bar.
Signifying an investment for the region of £30m, the new-build hotel is set to be a popular destination for Torbay locals, and visitors from further afield.
Martin Rogers, managing director of the Global Hotels and Leisure Consultancy, which acts on behalf of Fragrance Group, said: “We are delighted to be opening this new 161-bedroom hotel in partnership with Accor and RBH. Our thanks go to Brady Construction in particular. We wish Jason Parry and his team every success.”
Jason Parry, general manager for Mercure Paignton, said: “The Mercure Paignton Hotel is a hugely exciting project and one which promises a new age of prosperity for the area.
“Not only do we expect the hotel to appeal to leisure visitors from across the UK, we look forward to welcoming local people to our new restaurant and bar to sample regional food and beverages; such as freshly caught Brixham fish, award winning Salcombe gin or traditional real ale from Torbay Gin and Bays brewery.
“Local relationships and partnerships are a huge priority for us, with 50 per cent of our beverages are from local suppliers, and art displayed in our rooms and public areas created by the region’s artists. The hotel definitely has a local flavour and feel.”
The Fragrance Group's Ibis Styles hotel, set to open on the seafront later this year, is set to further Paignton’s appeal for visitors from across the South West region and the UK, as well as delivering many benefits for the local economy.
Jason said: “Across the two new hotels, we will be employing around 60 people, and also partnering with tourism and leisure businesses in the region.
“We believe our investment, together with Torbay Council's masterplan for Paignton’s seafront, heralds a new era for Paignton and its resurgence as a popular South West seaside town.”
The Mercure Paignton Hotel will provide standard doubles and luxurious Privilege sea-view rooms, as well as an all-day locally influenced dining experience in its Latitude 50 restaurant.
Business visitors are also catered for, with two flexible event spaces for conferences and meetings, and options to combine a stay with the many team orientated activities on offer in the area, from adventure sports to coastal hikes.
Inspired by the golden age of the English Riviera, the hotel’s elegant interior combines calming colour schemes with striking dark wooden and brass features, giving guests a taste of the illustrious grandeur of the historic seaside resort, with a modern twist.
Those wishing to stay at the hotel can book now, while diners can make restaurant bookings from tomorrow (April 6).
Jason said: "The Mercure Paignton Hotel will offer guests an experience like no other on the Riviera; providing the highest level of comfort, service and quality, while evoking memories of nostalgic beach holidays and inspiring an eagerness for new experiences and adventures.”
