Keen cricketer Jon starts new innings in South Devon business world

Westcotts, a leading South West firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, has appointed Jon Sparkes as Tax Director, strengthening the firm’s tax expertise and reinforcing its commitment to helping SMEs and organisations across the region achieve growth and resilience.

Jon, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Chartered Tax Adviser, will be based in the firm’s Exeter office and brings more than 30 years’ experience advising owner-managed businesses, larger corporates and not-for-profit organisations.

He specialises in corporate tax; corporate reorganisations, acquisitions and sales; and Research & Development tax relief; helping clients improve efficiency, achieve long-term success and plan for succession. Sector specialisms include manufacturing, leisure and hospitality and charity and not-for-profit.

Jon said: “I like to provide clear, concise advice which focuses on supporting businesses achieve their wider objectives. Having worked with owner-managed businesses of all sizes and at different stages of their lifecycle, I enjoy helping clients solve problems and cut through the jargon to concentrate on on what really matters to them.

Outside of work, Jon is a keen cricketer and has played, coached and officiated for many years. He also served as Chair of the Devon Cricket Foundation and was a board director of Devon Cricket for more than a decade.
