Helicopter winches injured walker to safety near Torquay beach

An injured walker was winched to safety by helicopter after slipping down a muddy track near a Torquay beach

The Brixham Coastguard Rescue Team Torbay and Paignton were tasked to help the woman near Whitsand beach at 1pm on Thursday.

She had slid down a very steep muddy track above the beach and sustained a suspected broken arm.

Due to the steepness of the track and it being very slippery, a Helicopter was used to winch the women to safety. The Helicopter winch was made more of a challenge due to the tree cover in the area.

Once the women was safely recovered the Coastguard teams lowered a Rope Technician down to recover the women's partner and a Paramedic back safely to the top.
