Torbay Tri Club enjoying challenges across the globe

Torbay Tri Club members were racing across three countries this week, with impressive performances in Dublin, Morocco and Rugby.

Celebrating its 45th year, the popular Dublin Marathon attracts around 20,000 runners. Despite difficult travel conditions, V45 Kate Maslin made it to the start line, with more favourable weather greeting runners on race day.

Kate produced an excellent performance, finishing in 3hrs 18mins 47secs, placing 2,635th out of almost 20,000 competitors.

V55 Shaun Lewis Collier was enjoying a holiday in Agadir when he decided to take on the Ironman 70.3 challenge. With temperatures exceeding 30°C, conditions were certainly demanding.

Shaun completed the 1.9km swim in 38 minutes, followed by an impressive 90km bike leg in 2hrs 59mins. He then dug deep to complete the half-marathon run in 2hrs 32mins, crossing the finish line in 6hrs 24mins 51secs.

Organised by RunThrough, the Rugby Half Marathon takes runners through the town and surrounding Warwickshire countryside.

SM Ben Flower was chasing his fifth personal best in as many weeks, and he certainly delivered. Ben smashed his previous half-marathon best, finishing in 1hr 33mins 52secs to claim 91st place out of 1,301 runners.

Congratulations to all three athletes on their fantastic achievements, with personal bests, international racing and plenty of determination on display!
