Torquay United needed the composure of a confident teenager to secure three valuable points at Enfield Town in the National League South.

Despite dominating for long periods, the Gulls trailed to a Sam Youngs goal at half-time, but Dylan Morgan restored parity early in the second period and then Kieran Wilson, on loan from Exeter City, won it with a penalty in the final minute.

The Gulls came out flying in the gloom of North London, Wilson and Cody Cooke causing some early issues before Jay Foulston lashed an effort over the bar. More United pressure included a deflected effort from Cooke clipping the outside of the Enfield post.

United, who were missing leading scorers Louis Dennis and Jordan Young through suspension, continued to launch attacks on their hosts, Morgan fizzing over a cross that only just eluded Cooke.

Captain Sam Dreyer was next to threaten, finding space from a set-piece and his header looked goalbound until goalkeeper Joe Wright flung himself across goal to push the ball wide.

It was an important reprieve, as Enfield then grabbed the lead against the run of play, Youngs finding space in the United rearguard to fire a low finish beyond James Hamon. The goal was harsh on the Gulls, who took a while to recover their composure, Hamon producing a fine save to deny Bayley Brown.

A crucial second half loomed, and Morgan was clearly listening intently to the half-time chat, as he levelled matters within three minutes, beating Wright with a deflected strike that was thoroughly deserved on the balance of play.

Wilson took the hint, pinging a terrific effort against the bar, as United cranked up the pressure. Enfield were unable to break the shackles and Wilson again asked questions with a powerful run and shot deflected over the bar before a special moment for Nashe Sundire, back on the pitch for the first time since suffering a serious injury in August.

There was also a debut for youngster Joe Hatch, on loan from Plymouth Argyle, and he almost got on the end of a cross from Matt Worthington a minute after entering the fray.

United were piling on the pressure in the final stages, Foulston had a goal disallowed for offside, but when an Enfield handball in the box led to a last-gasp penalty, Wilson stepped forward to win the game from the spot.
