Success on the bike, swim and runs for Torbay Tri Club

Tom Le Gallez from Torbay Triathlon Club travelled to Hamburg Germany to take part in his debut Ironman, the event includes a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and the full marathon distance of a 26.2-mile run. 

It was some debut, as Tom completed the swim in a swift time of 1hr 15mins, bike 5hr 38mins 13secs, marathon in 3hr 24mins 25secs for an amazing overall time of 10 hrs 34mins 32secs! 638th out of 2321.

Take a bow Tom, you are an Ironman!

Five club members made the trip up to Burrator for this very popular undulating 10k race around the reservoir. 

First back from the club and first lady overall was Naomi Flanagan in a quick time of 38mins 48secs (14th place), followed by V45 Louise Gentry in 44mins 32secs (64th) 2nd V45, next came V40 Chris Martin in a PB time of 47mins 34secs (105th).

There was another strong performance by V70 Andrew Kilner, 55mins 20secs (250th) 3rd V70. In her first race since the London Marathon, V45 Sarah Sweatman finished in 1hr 15mins 16secs (493th) out of 527 runners.  

The Wray Trail is an event put on by Winding Paths, comprising a half-marathon and 10k. The half-marathon starts at Bovey, heads to Lustleigh and on to Mortenhampstead before returning to Bovey. The 10k turns back at Lustleigh.

In his second run of the weekend, V40 Chris Martin was back for more. Chris ran the half-marathon in 1hr 50mins 36mins (17th) out of 87.

In the 10k, in-form V60 Wendy Urban had a great day, getting round in an impressive time of 46mins 59secs (4th) 2nd lady overall, plus 1st V60 out of 84 runners.

The Clyst Hydon Huff is a 10k multi-terrain battle, providing a rewarding challenge for runners of all levels. Starting at the Village Hall, a tough uphill start, before you enter the beautiful woodland middle section and finally back to the finish line at the Five Bells pub.  

First back was V60 Andrea Wall in 1hr 06mins 32secs (84th), then came V65 Heather Maddock in 1hr 11mins 57secs (102nd), and V50 Linda Thompson 1hr 20mins 27secs (124th) out of 137 runners.

Three Tri Club members took part in the very popular Great West Run, a well-supported half marathon in Exeter. First back was SM Jason Hurford in a quick time of 1hr 20mins 24secs (21st), next was V50 Nigel Fenn 1hr 30mins 02secs (134th) 3rd V50, followed by V50 Sue Hayes in 2hrs 34mins 44secs (2597) out of 3305 runners.

Dave Brown travelled up to Derbyshire aiming to qualify for the 2026 World Championships in Abu Dhabi at the Darley Moor Duathlon. It was a very successful day for Dave, finishing 4th in age category and 2nd in qualifying.  

The Dorney Sprint takes place at the home of the London 2012 Olympics rowing and canoeing events. SM Ben Flower took part in a high-quality field in the sprint event (750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run). Ben finished in 1hr 10mins 18secs, 81st/350.
