Latest positions in the National League South

There are just five games to go in the incredible National League South promotion scrap and the latest round of fixtures made things even more interesting.

Torquay United’s late win at relegated Aveley places the Gulls three points behind leaders Worthing, and only behind Dorking and Truro on goal difference. Worthing retained their narrow advantage with a 2-0 defeat of Hampton & Richmond.

Boreham Wood were the big losers in the top eight, going down to a 4-0 demolition at Maidstone, another side in contention. This opened the door for Weston-super-Mare, who won 4-2 at Hornchurch, and now just two points from pinching the final play-off slot from the Wood.

The other match involving two of the contenders saw Dorking leapfrog Eastbourne with a 3-1 home win, while Truro were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw at Chelmsford. All to play for between now and the final day on April 26.
