Anna Andrew in Rome
Spring races in full swing for Torbay Amateur Athletics Club
Torbay AAC were competing in events the UK and Internationally, including the Polruan Shuffle in Cornwall, a 12-mile trail running event from Looe to Polruan along the coast path.
This part of the coastal path had multiple sections with steps making up 2,600 feet of elevation. Three members of Torbay AAC took on the challenge: Russell Hart 2:23, Anita Merritt 3:06 2nd fv50 and Gemma Radcliffe 3:20.
Anna Andrew ran the Roma Ostia half marathon, the 50th anniversary of this run. The race starts at Piazzale Luigi Nerve and then runs towards the beaches at Ostia. It was an unexpectedly hot day after rain the previous day with the bright sunshine warming the streets of Rome. Preparations for the race hadn’t quite gone to plan with Shaun Andrew unable to run due to an injury. Despite having to run solo and in warm conditions, Anna rose to the occasion, completing the course in a time of 2.27.36.
