Brixham pre-season
The FA Cup journey begins on the first weekend of August
Our local semi-professional clubs now know their first opponents in the FA Cup and, on paper, they are both winnable ties for Brixham AFC and Buckland Athletic.
The Fishermen will host Saltash United on August 3, while Buckland travel to Wellington, with both opponents finishing below the South Devon teams in the Western League last season.
Ahead of the new campaign, Brixham have been busy in the recruitment market. While stalwart Scott Robinson has left Wall Park after nine years to sign for Bideford, the Fishermen have added James Moxon, Liam Poole and Will Hancox to the squad.
The annual club awards ceremony was also held on the eve of pre-season, with Aaron Wellington winning Player of the Season, Ben Hopkins was given the manager’s award and Scott Robinson won the supporters’ vote. Tom Mortimore won the Young Player prize and Scott Gubbin named Club Person of the Season.
