Torquay United Women could hardly be in more confident mood as they prepare to start the defence of their Devon County Cup title against Exeter City, the team they upset 1-0 in last season's final.
The two teams meet again at Coach Road, Newton Abbot, this Sunday (3pm) after the Gulls earned their third successive South-West Women's League Premier Division win, 4-2 against Warminster Town last weekend.
That result leaves them in third place, a point behind leaders Sherborne, and they could go top when league action resumes, because Sherborne and second-placed Bishops Lydeard play each other, while United travel to Ilminster Town.
A switch from all-weather Coach Road to Liverton United's grass pitch at Halford did little to slow Torquay's free-scoring form against Warminster, and they won with goals by Tracey Cross, Mia Preston, Danni Wyatt and Ellie Bishop.
Meanwhile, United's Under-18 team is also in cup action this weekend.
Ryan Dickson's squad, which has made an unbeaten start in defence of their SW Counties Youth League title, meet Bishops Cleeve in the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup.
The tie is being played at Buckland Athletic's Homers Heath ground on Friday night (7.30pm).
