Play Torbay Fun Day at Beverley Holidays
The big-hearted team at Beverley Holidays summoned up the feel-good factor when it welcomed local charity Play Torbay for a special social impact day celebration on its Boulevard.
The third-generation holiday park in opened its doors to children and families from the Torbay charity for a free afternoon of arts and crafts, games, and activities hosted by its entertainers.
The event was part of the British Holiday and Home Parks Association’s ‘Park Make Places’ initiative – a nationwide campaign that shines a spotlight on the vital role holiday parks play in strengthening communities.
“We were thrilled to throw open our doors and share a day of joy and togetherness with families from Play Torbay,” said Beverley Holidays director Claire Flower.
“It’s days like these that show how holiday parks can be more than just places to stay – they’re places that bring people together.”
With firm roots in the local community for six decades, family-run Beverley Holidays has a long-standing commitment to giving back to the community and regularly teams up with local initiatives like Play Torbay.
A Torbay-based charity that supports and encourages children to play and be active outdoors, especially those from disadvantaged communities, its ethos mirrors that of Beverley — who are passionate about creating inclusive, joyful experiences for all. Beverley Bear and Sandy Starfish are regular visitors to Play Torbay events Indigos Play and Ecology Centre and the children just love to be photographed with them.
“Our first involvement with Beverley Holidays was early last year when entertainments manager, Paul Farley, asked if we would be their charity of the year. Of course our response was a big fat YES! Ever since we have been consistently blown away by their generosity with their support and willingness to chip in and help, raising an amazing £5259.17 last year,” said Lesley Perrin of Play Torbay.
Lesley added: “Our new mud kitchen in the play area at Indigos was only possible because Beverley Holidays very generously donated a huge metal sink. They hosted a fantastic Christmas party which Father Christmas himself attended, and even put on a pantomime for us… oh yes they did!”
Saturday’s event followed their recent panto social impact day, with pupils from White Rock Primary School invited to attend a special showing of Jack And The Beanstalk in May this year.
Provided free of charge, the pantomime proved a hit among attendees who included the mayor of Torbay, Barbara Lewis, and councillor Chris Lewis, showcasing Beverley’s commitment to creating memorable moments for holidaymakers and community members alike.
