Storms can't dampen Brixham’s festivities

A much-loved Christmas event has returned to Brixham

Storms won’t dampen Brixham’s festivities

Not even Storm Bert could put a dampener on the start of Brixham's Christmas celebrations.

Brixham Town Council’s much-loved Lanterns, Lights, and ‘Luminations event brought the magic of Christmas to life the weekend before last, proving that nothing - not even the lashing and bashing from Bert - can dim the spirit of Brixham.

In a race against the weather, the council condensed the originally planned two-day extravaganza into a spectacular one-day event.

The result? A celebration that dazzled, delighted, and united the community, all while showcasing the resilience and determination that Brixham is known for.

Ross Green, Deputy Town Clerk said: “We want to thank our contractors, Diverse Events, whose expertise made this change possible at short notice and to Sarah and Mark at A Kick Up the Arts, who held lantern-making workshops bringing creativity and excitement to our event. Thanks to their efforts, this year’s event outshone all expectations."

With the lanterns glowing, the lights sparkling, and the town now dressed in its festive finest, Christmas has officially arrived in Brixham.

The town council invites everyone to continue celebrating by shopping and dining locally. It says: "Explore the Town’s fantastic local businesses for unique gifts, seasonal treats, and Christmas essentials, and enjoy the warm hospitality of Brixham’s restaurants, cafés, and pubs - there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

"Here’s to another unforgettable year of lanterns, lights, and 'luminations, brought to you by Brixham Town Council – a true celebration of community spirit and Christmas cheer."
