Jarvis, who scored his ninth goal of the season in last Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat at Weston-super-Mare, then collided with a perimeter fence, sustaining a knee injury in the process and had to be helped off the field. United have now received the results of Jarvis’ scan, and Johnson said: “This one needs no surgery, and we’re hopeful that he will be back around Christmas." “We’re all very pleased that Jarvs is in a much better mental state, knowing that his season and his career will carry on in a short time.”
Johnson revealed after Saturday’s 3-1 loss at Hampton & Richmond that United had made an offer for another striker and, since Jarvis may be sidelined for up to nine or ten matches, those efforts are expected to continue. Goalkeeper Mark Halstead also had to leave the pitch at Hampton. He’s now been cleared of concussion worries, although he does have some stitches in a chin wound.
