Torquay United are planning to do Torbay and South Devon proud both on and off the pitch
The Gulls are promoting the new Torbay Story initiative and branding across the front of their eye-catching away shirts this season
The Torbay Story is a new way of 'selling' the Bay to potential investors both locally, nationally and internationally to tell them what a great place Torbay and the English Riviera is to live, work, visit and invest in.
It is being used as a tool by the Torbay Leadership Board - comprising leaders from the business/private, public and community sectors - focussing on special themes for the Bay and its three towns, from its natural environment and food and drink offer to its hi-tech industry and education areas.
A vibrant community also has a huge part in that new 'Place' strategy and that is where United come in.
The Torbay Story will now be promoted on their away travels and games across the south of England.
Ironically, the wraps came off the new kit in a home game with Devon rivals Exeter City on Saturday and it worked wonders with United winning 4-1.
The away strip went also went on tour as United players showcased their new look across iconic landmarks across the Bay.
United's Jack Stobbs and Lewis Collins partnered up with TUWFC ladies soccer stars Ocean Latto and Tracey Cross to model the change strip in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, and highlight the club’s exciting new partnership with front-of-shirt sponsors Torbay Story.
A club spokesman said: "With the Torbay Story logo taking pride of place on United’s away strip next term, our magnificent Bay can look forward to getting unparalleled attention from all over the south of England, as Gary Johnson’s side go on their travels to take on their National League South rivals throughout the course of the 2023/24 campaign.
"Following its launch around two years ago, Torbay Story has continued to promote the forward-thinking, positive and compelling story of the three wonderful towns within the Bay, with residents, partners, and local businesses uniting together to not only highlight some of the gems that our glorious locality already possesses – but also promote the unique potential of the area, with the ultimate aim of attracting investment and funding to create a more prosperous Torbay.
"The local community remains at the very heart of Torbay Story though, and residents are actively encouraged to play their own part in promoting our stunning Bay by discovering more here.
"With Torquay United delighted to be playing its part in the Torbay Story, both parties are looking forward to the forthcoming 2023/24 campaign being its most exciting chapter yet."
