Paignton artist offering free classic car paintings for charity

John Taylor asks only for a donation to Rowcroft Hospice in return for his unique automotive artwork

Retired Paignton artist painting people’s classic cars for a good cause

Meet John Taylor from Paignton. He loves to paint during his retirement, like so many others do, but his passion is painting cars.

Not actually painting the cars themselves but as an artist.

What a terrific job he does and his style is quite unique and very personable. He captures the character of the car whether it be a stationary Blower Bentley as seen here, or indeed as a rally Audi or Escort at full chat, complete with enthusiastic driver behind the wheel.

His work is on display at Wescro Car Accessories for anyone to see and he will gladly be commissioned to paint your classic car or a favourite previous motor car of yours just from a photograph.

There are professional artists I have come across at events such as Goodwood Revival and Silverstone GP whose work is no better than John’s and which often run into many hundreds of pounds to have commissioned. So how much is a painting going to cost if you would like your classic car immortalised to hang on the kitchen wall.

Well actually, John’s work is free. He just likes to paint, you see.

However, John has decided that a nice touch would be if a suitable donation of around £100 could be made to the Rowcroft Hospice, which we all know is a most worthy cause in Torbay for our community at a time of need.

The suggested price of your unique painting includes a glazed frame and backing ready to hang, all of which John provides complete with an artists signature. If you felt inclined to increase the donation, that would be up to you of course.

Wescro Car Accessories is an old-fashioned, traditional family-run business, the like of which we do not see that often today and is well worth a visit even if artwork is not your thing.

It has been there for around 50 years offering a personal service for obscure spare parts as well as regular bits and bobs. They are to be found at 35 Palace Avenue, Paignton, TQ3 3EQ.
