An established care home in Brixham has been sold after 25 years of ownership.
Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has announced the sale of Belmont House care home, located in a residential area on the outskirts of the South Devon town.
Belmont House is registered to care for up to 24 residents and operates from a pale pink converted period property. The home has been improved and extended over the years and now comprises 21 bedrooms, 12 of which have en suite facilities. It is situated close to local amenities and within short travelling distance of neighbouring towns.
The care home had been owned by Patrick and Lynne Phillips for a quarter of a century and was brought to market to allow the couple to retire.
Following a confidential sales process led by Christie & Co business agent Eve-Angelica Apperley, and with funding arranged through Christie Finance director Gary Boyce, the home has been purchased by first-time buyers Gino and Stephanie Ussi. The sale price has not been disclosed.
Patrick and Lynne Phillips said they had originally purchased Belmont House through Christie & Co 25 years ago and described their time running the home as challenging but rewarding.
They said: “This time in the sector has not been without its challenges; however, in the same breath, along with our daughter, the Registered Manager of the home, growing the business to the present day is one that we feel very proud of.
“The care sector is one we should all look after with compassion, taking into consideration the people who come into this sector. First-time buyers, Gino and Stephanie, showed us the compassion we feel is necessary for a successful business in care.”
They added that their daughter would remain as registered manager at Belmont House and wished the new owners “every success in building on and sustaining the great reputation Belmont House has had for many years”.
One of the new owners, Gino Ussi, said he and his wife were pleased to have completed the purchase.
“Stephanie and I are both delighted that the transaction was successful, as we absolutely love Belmont House,” he said. “The team at the home are a pleasure to work with, and the residents clearly love living there.”
Christie & Co’s Eve-Angelica Apperley said the business was “now in the safe hands of Stephanie and Gino Ussi”, while Christie Finance director Gary Boyce said Belmont House provided “the ideal first purchase” for the buyers as they enter the care sector.
