Acclaimed chef launches limited-run Japanese dining experience in Paignton, with plans to expand

Authentic Japanese ramen pop-up to launch in Paignton

Food lovers in Devon are being promised something completely new next month as the county’s first dedicated ramen pop-up prepares to launch in Paignton.

Tomo Ramen will take over the restaurant space at the Three Palms Hotel for a short run of evenings in February, serving authentic Japanese ramen crafted by a chef with serious credentials.

The pop-up has been created by chef Tomo, whose career includes working in some of London’s most prestigious kitchens including La Gavroche and The Savoy. He says the aim is to bring the depth, comfort and theatre of real Japanese ramen to Devon – using a fine-dining standard of care and attention.

“This is an exciting first for Devon,” said Tomo. “Ramen is so much more than just noodles – it’s a comforting, vibrant experience. I wanted to create a space where people can enjoy authentic Japanese flavours, crafted with the attention to detail you’d expect from fine dining.”

Guests can expect rich slow-cooked broths, perfectly textured noodles and beautifully presented bowls, alongside Japanese-inspired sides. The menu will be carefully curated and served in a relaxed setting.

If the pop-up proves popular, the plan is for Tomo Ramen to become a permanent feature at the hotel.

The pop-up will run on 6 and 7 February, with bookings available via www.cosycarrot.com. You can also follow updates on social media at @tomosramen.

Alongside the pop-up, Tomo Ramen also marks the first step towards a wider venture, Tokyo Tomos, which will see Japanese food boxes available on Deliveroo and Just Eat, as well as opportunities for wholesale supply. That project is expected to launch towards the end of February.
