Rockfish’s British tinned seafood will soon be landing on the shelves of upmarket Fortnum & Mason and Selfridges - as well as quality delicatessens across the UK.
The range is also now available for wholesale.
Brixham-based Rockfish is run by chef Mitch Tonks, who says the tinned seafood range is produced entirely by hand - from catching the seafood, hauling nets or using hook and line, to cooking, skinning, filleting, and hand-laying the fish into tins.
Mitch said: “Preserving seafood is an important part of eating and fishing sustainably.
“We select British species when they are at their best in the seasonal cycle and all of our fish is prepared skilfully by hand and preserved using traditional methods which ensures the fish remains at its very best throughout the process.
“We are proud to have created and championed the world’s first range of tinned British seafood which ranks as some of the best in the world.
“Launching to a wider audience though shops and delis will make it more available and allow more people to enjoy this fabulous fish.”
The recently expanded range now also includes relishes and crackers, made in Somerset using British peas, which are the perfect accompaniment adding a welcome crunch and zing to the seafood.
With sustainability at the heart of everything at Rockfish, preserving the fish in this allows the company to reduce waste by using fish that otherwise would go unsold due to varying demand and natural seasonal gluts.
All the seafood used in the Rockfish tins is 100 per cent sustainable and sourced responsibly off the South West coast.
Since launching the unique range, there has also been huge demand for Rockfish to launch into the wholesale sector.
The range includes seven different tins of British seafood including Brixham cuttlefish in ink sauce, mackerel in olive oil and Mount’s Bay sardines.
