Brixham Fish Market has announced a record-breaking year with £77 million worth of fish landed and sold through the market in 2025.
This figure represents the total value of fish sold at Brixham Fish Market and is the highest annual total in the market’s history.
The £77 million total surpasses the previous record of £62 million achieved in 2024 and marks a significant milestone for the market, its fishing fleet, and all those involved in supplying Brixham’s seafood to buyers across the UK and international markets.
The exceptional performance reflects a year of strong landings, favourable trading conditions, and continued growth in demand for Brixham’s premium seafood.

Key contributing factors included a notable increase in Mediterranean octopus landings, a strong and consistent cuttlefish season, good weather conditions, and competitive seafood prices. Growth in transport and export operations, an increase in vessels choosing to land in Brixham, and the continued success of the market’s cloud-based auction system also played a major role.
Throughout the year, the market recorded multiple record-breaking weeks and days, supported by the ongoing expansion of the Brixham Trawler Agents (BTA) team, which operates and manages the market.
In total, 13,830 tonnes of fish were sold at Brixham Fish Market in 2025. This included 3,183 tonnes of cuttlefish, 1,795 tonnes of Mediterranean octopus, and 1,665 tonnes of fish exported to overseas markets.

Barry Young Brixham Trawler Agents MD
Barry Young, Managing Director of Brixham Trawler Agents, said: "This achievement was only possible due to the commitment of the fleet and everyone involved in bringing seafood to market, as well as the dedication and hard work of the entire Brixham Trawler Agents team.”
Brixham Fish Market plans to build on this success in 2026.
