West End hits and Bee Gees magic live in Torbay

The Babbacombe Theatre in Torquay will host a weekend of live music later this month, featuring two shows celebrating the best of musical theatre and classic pop.

Classical crossover quartet G4 performs Phantoms of the Popera, a concert blending their trademark vocal harmonies with musical theatre favourites, on Friday, May 23, at 7:30 p.m.

Following the release of their 20th anniversary album and national tour, the original X Factor finalists will perform a selection of West End and Broadway showstoppers. The set includes music from Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, South Pacific, Dear Evan Hansen, The Greatest Showman, Chess, The Book of Mormon and We Will Rock You.

This vocally rich production promises a journey through uplifting melodies, emotional ballads and powerful anthems. Tickets are limited.

Nights on Broadway: The Bee Gees Story will then take the stage on Saturday, 24 May, at 7:30pm. The act features the Irish Bee Gees, a seven-piece band from Ireland and the UK known for their close harmonies and live musicianship.

The show covers more than four decades of Bee Gees hits, from ballads such as Massachusetts and To Love Somebody to disco-era anthems like Night Fever and Stayin’ Alive, along with later chart-toppers including You Win Again and Heartbreaker.

With full-band arrangements, costume changes and acoustic medleys, the tribute has been praised by actor Brendan O’Carroll, star of Mrs Brown’s Boys, who said: “From the musicianship to the vocal harmonies, these guys sound so like the Bee Gees it’s scary.”
