Critically acclaimed jazz and pop tributes come to Torquay

The Down for the Count stars will perform on 13 June

Babbacombe Theatre in Torquay is gearing up for a weekend of high-energy musical entertainment with two standout live shows taking to the stage this June.

The Down for the Count All-Stars will bring their critically acclaimed production Swing That Music to town on Friday, 13 June, at 7:30pm.

Hailed by Time Out London as “one helluva celebration of vintage music”, the show combines the vibrant spirit of a jazz club with the polish of a West End performance.

Regulars at top venues including Ronnie Scott’s in London and Le Caveau de la Huchette in Paris, the band will perform classics from swing legends such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Glenn Miller.

Expect vocal tributes to greats like Louis Armstrong, Nat ‘King’ Cole and Ella Fitzgerald, delivered with original arrangements, sharp solos and warm stage charisma. Their lively set aims to reimagine the golden age of swing with fresh flair.

The Jerseys Live will return to the theatre the following night, paying tribute to the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons on Saturday, 14 June, at 7:30pm.

Complete with slick choreography, stunning falsettos and a full four-piece live band, the show features hits including Sherry, Walk Like a Man, Grease, Big Girls Don’t Cry, and Oh What a Night!

Packed with harmonies and nostalgia, the production captures the spirit of the '60s and '70s and has thrilled audiences nationwide — including at a royal engagement for the late Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle. It promises a night of feel-good music, comedy and crowd-pleasing classics.

Both shows have earned critical acclaim and celebrity praise — Michael Bublé described Swing That Music as simply “awesome”.
