Torquay’s seafront has a new point of interest with the opening of Hotel Indigo, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio.
Situated close to the town’s key attractions, including Torquay Museum, Kents Cavern, Princess Pier and Torre Abbey Sands, the 153-room hotel reflects Torquay’s coastal surroundings. With sandy tones, blues, and décor inspired by the town’s maritime history, interior details include wave-patterned wallpaper, varied colour schemes, and distinctive design elements that set it apart from nearby traditional hotels and B&Bs.
Inside, Root & Reef Bistro showcases locally sourced produce and fresh seafood, while The Cast rooftop bar, opening in spring 2026, will offer panoramic views of the bay and a nod to Torquay’s connection to Agatha Christie. The hotel also features a wellness suite with treatment rooms and a fitness centre overlooking the bay.
James Farley, General Manager, said the hotel aims to combine a design-led aesthetic with a strong connection to the local community, highlighting Torquay’s ongoing revival.
Owned by Singapore-based Fragrance Group and managed by IHG Hotels & Resorts, the hotel is dog-friendly and includes eight accessible rooms and three family suites. Standard rooms total 115, with 35 premium rooms and three larger suites completing the 153-room offering.
With its striking exterior and modern interiors, Hotel Indigo adds a contemporary dimension to Torquay’s seafront, illustrating the town’s evolving character as it attracts new visitors and younger audiences to the English Riviera.
