Two very different music legends will be remembered on stage at the Babbacombe Theatre this September, with back-to-back tribute shows to Michael Jackson and the Carpenters.
On Friday 19 September at 7.30pm, MichaelⓇ Starring Ben promises a moonwalk through the decades. Ben Bowman, considered one of the UK’s most convincing Jackson tribute acts, takes on the singer’s trademark moves and vocals. Backed by a live band, the setlist features hits from Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough and Blame It on the Boogie to Billie Jean, Thriller, Beat It and Man in the Mirror.
The following night, Saturday 20 September at 7.30pm, it’s a change of pace with A Tribute to the Carpenters. Returning with a new show for 2025, Gordy Marshall’s The British Carpenters features Sally Creedon as Karen Carpenter and a line-up of musicians from London’s West End.
Audiences can expect the familiar warmth of tracks including Close to You, Top of the World, Rainy Days and Mondays, Please Mr Postman and Goodbye to Love. Organisers say the aim is to capture the Carpenters’ distinctive sound and spirit, with arrangements that take audiences back to when they first heard the songs.
Both shows form part of the theatre’s autumn programme. Tickets are available from the box office on 01803 328385 or online at www.babbacombe-theatre.com
