Torquay hotel fire: Latest video update

The incident, which unfolded on Wednesday, January 31, is being suspected of arson

The recent fire at Torquay's Coppice Hotel is now under suspicion of being deliberately started, raising concerns about potential arson.

The hotel, a historic Victorian villa, suffered extensive damage in a major blaze last week, leaving it virtually gutted. The once-charming structure now stands with no roof, shattered windows, and walls charred black.

The incident unfolded on the evening of Wednesday, January 31, with flames engulfing the derelict hotel, shooting high into the sky and drawing attention to the devastating aftermath.

Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire and ascertain whether intentional actions played a role in the destruction of the iconic Victorian property just off the main Babbacombe Road.
