Torquay United part company with Louis Dennis after lengthy stand-off

Louis Dennis leaves Torquay United after long absence from squad
Torquay United and striker Louis Dennis have parted company, bringing an end to an apparent stand-off which has been a major talking point among supporters for more than two months.
The Gulls announced, in a brief statement, on Friday that former Bromley forward Dennis, 34, had left the club.
Signed the summer before last by ex-United manager Paul Wotton, Dennis had scored 15 goals in 30 starts and 12 sub appearances.
But he had made only two appearances off the bench under current boss Jimmy Ball this season.
Dennis’ departure follows the earlier sales of fellow forwards Jordan Young to Worthing and Dylan Morgan to Crawley Town, the trio scoring 46 goals between them last season.
Dennis did issue his own statement via social media, thanking the ‘Yellow Army’ and describing Plainmoor as ‘a special place to play football’.
He wrote: “Thank-you to my current and ex-teammates. I’m grateful to have shared the pitch with you, and I wish you all nothing but success.”
He thanked Wotton for bringing him to Torquay, and also the Gulls’ board, adding: “I hope they manage to get the club back to where it belongs.”
