Five properties in Torquay have had their closure orders extended for a further three months, forcing them to stay closed until January 2027, as part of a crackdown on anti-social behaviour and suspected criminal activity.

Closure orders have been extended for five properties in Torquay as police continue their crackdown on anti-social behaviour and suspected criminal activity.

In July this year, police, working alongside colleagues from Trading Standards South West and Torbay Council, were successful in obtaining closure orders for several properties.

Now, three commercial premises in Torquay town centre and two residential properties have had their closure orders extended for a further three months, forcing them to stay closed until January 2027.

The three shops have been given full closure orders following ongoing concerns that counterfeit goods were being stored and supplied from the premises.

They have been named as Cheeto Mini Market on Tor Hill Road, Milano Market on Union Street and International Mini Market, also on Union Street.

Meanwhile, two residential properties have had their partial closures extended until January.

This restriction will protect those who are rightfully living there as well as combatting associated anti-social behaviour.

Torquay Sector Inspector Rob Harvey explained: “Torquay Neighbourhood Team are grateful for the support we received from the public and our Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Legal Advisor in obtaining and extending these orders.”

“We will continue to use legislation to obtain closure orders to support the town centre businesses and visitors as well as protecting our residential communities from ASB.”

Torquay residents who wish to share concerns about anti-social behaviour or other issues in their community can meet officers from the Torquay Neighbourhood team at St Matthias’ Church on Babbacombe Road on Wednesday, December 2, between midday and 2pm.
