Everything is Going Green in Brixham

Indigos Goes Green

A special event with a Green theme is being held in Brixham

Over the last few months, Play Torbay has built a large community poly tunnel at the Indigos Goes Green playground which works as a growing space and indoor/ outdoor meeting area.
It has been decided to have a special official opening on Saturday July 1 between 11am and 2pm and invite people to come to see the progress that has been made towards the development of the Indigos Goes Green Play and Ecology Centre
Working in partnership with the Imagine This, the opening is being combed with a Green marketplace event with an opportunity to find out about the different ‘green’ endeavours happening across the Bay. Organisations already supporting include Imagine This, Play Torbay, Devon Community Foundation, Life on the Edge, South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Landscapes for Life, Heritage Fund, Orchard Forest School, Edible Earth, Taleblazers, Torbay Climate Action, Inter-Line, Jewson’s, Poundland, the Co-op, Ellacombe Community Partnership, Torbay Community Development Trust, Libraries Unlimited, Brixham Council and Torbay Council.
Play Torbay say they would also like to thank everyone across Torbay who have very kindly contributed to the development, in all sorts of ways, from donating building materials to volunteering time building and gardening. For example, the local building supplies company Inter-Line provided all the materials for the base of the poly tunnel.
A spokesman said: "This will be a family event and there will be lots of wonderful play opportunities for children across the site with a chance to have a go at making bubbles and bubble wands, experimenting with ink marbling nature art, and joining in great water play activities. There will be free refreshments for everyone."
The Torbay Green Marketplace event is at Packhall Lane, off Chestnut Drive.
To book go to www.playtorbay.org.uk/events. There is a small booking fee of 75p.
