Torquay Spires College will deliver professional musical theatre

Students at The Spires College in Torquay are set to impress audiences with their performance of Sister Act, running from February 10 to 14, 2025.

Based on the Golden Globe-nominated hit movie of the same name, Sister Act follows club singer Deloris as she takes refuge in a local convent and embarks on bringing the power of music to the local parish.

The production offers students a taste of professional musical theater, beginning with auditions in September, where hopeful performers showcased their talents in front of a panel. 

Those selected have dedicated significant time and effort to the show, rehearsing twice weekly during lunch and after school, along with additional sessions on select Saturdays — all while managing their regular school commitments.

Over recent years, The Spires College has developed a reputation for delivering exceptional performances, raising the bar for both students and staff. 

This ambitious endeavor is a collaborative effort across the college’s creative departments. Staff and students have worked together to design and construct the set, choreograph intricate dance numbers, and meticulously coordinate every element of the production.

The hard work and commitment from all promises a memorable event, showcasing the talent and dedication of Spires College students.
