Locals of the Queens Arms present the latest cheque to the Shoalstone Pool appeal
Organisers of a popular beer festival in Torbay are close to reaching a landmark milestone in their fund-raising efforts.
The festival, between December 6 and 8, is once again being held at the Queens Arms in Brixham where landlord Chris Simmonds is renowned for supporting local worthy causes.
Organiser Lesley Manning, also well-known for her links and efforts with the Torbay Steam Fair held in the port, says: "I was hoping to get a shout out for The Queen's Arms Charity beer Festival as it is the 10th one and we are hoping to reach our £50,000.00 target of money raised in total.
"We are currently at £43,262.67 and it would just be brilliant if we could smash that target. Last year we raised a staggering £9092.00 for Shoalstone Seawater Pool in Brixham. Not bad for a small backstreet pub."

This year's charity is local support group Pete's Dragon who help people who have been bereaved through suicide.
It was chosen by landlord Chris in memory of one of the Queens Arms regular customers who sadly took her own life earlier this year.
Lesley added: "Chris, the staff, volunteers, suppliers and regulars work tirelessly all year round to make this a hugely popular event in Brixham's events calendar.
"The Sunday art auction has become very popular and we have pictures donated by many of the popular and talented artists we have here in Brixham. It's a great event and we really want to smash that £50,000 target."
