Hitting the right times in Algarve 100km for Torbay team of two

Gary Burman and Debbie Burman from Torbay Triathlon Club headed to Portugal for some long-awaited sunshine and took on the medio distance Algarve Granfondo 100km on a beautiful hilly route around the Algarve, finishing well inside the cut off in 4hrs 14mins 18secs.

Having been devastated by Storm Goretti last month, Tehidy woods was only ready to host the 5 and 10k trial events this week instead of January 17.

Tehidy Woods (Tehidy Country Park) is the largest woodland area in West Cornwall, covering 250 acres near Camborne with over nine miles of trails, a lake, and varied wildlife. Managed by Cornwall Council, it is open year-round for walking, cycling, and exploring, particularly known for its spring bluebells and accessible

Matt Giles (SM) and his trusty canine companion Neville made the journey down to Cornwall for an extremely muddy and wet affair (the type of rain that actually made wearing  glasses more hazardous than depending on his poor natural vision).

Matt and Nev still managed to be the first pair home in the Canicross 10K. They were over 10 minutes quicker than the second placed pair! They now have a 13-point lead in the Purple Gecko 10k Canicross Series.
