Brixham have dropped into the bottom four of the Southern League Division One South after conceding two late goals for a painful 2-1 home defeat to Bashley at Wall Park.

The Fishermen more than held their own in the first period and snatched the lead with a goal from Charlie Johansen three minutes before the half-time break. Brixham were 11 minutes from an important win when Lewis Ross levelled for the visitors and Harvey-Joe Bertrand then scored to inflict a cruel defeat. Brixham travel to Portishead Town on Saturday.

Devon rivals Willand Rovers leapfrogged the Fishermen with a battling 1-0 win over previously unbeaten Frome Town, while Exmouth Town climbed to fourth with a 2-1 triumph across the Moors at Tavistock.

Buckland Athletic never recovered from a sluggish first-half display, as they went down to a 2-0 defeat at St Blazey. The Bucks were unable to find their normal attacking rhythm in Cornwall and will be hoping for a quick response when they welcome Barnstaple Town on Wednesday night.

The rough results continued with Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police bowing out of the FA Vase with a 4-1 loss at Helston Athletic.

There was better news for Bovey Tracey, who maintained their lead at the top of the Peninsula League East Division with a 2-0 win over Cullompton Rangers, despite ending the game with nine men. Callum Leech and Josh Webber scored the Bovey goals. Newton Abbot Spurs are in third after a 2-1 success at Torrington.
