It was a weekend to remember for Torbay Tri Club, with athletes testing themselves at both international and local level.
Three club members travelled to Estonia to compete in the gruelling Ironman triathlon in Tallinn, while back in Paignton, more than 180 runners lined up for the club’s increasingly popular Twilight 10K at Torbay Velopark.

Three Torbay Tri club members travelled to Estonia, to take part in the ultimate triathlon challenge, the IRONMAN ! Set in Tallinn the capital of Estonia.
The competition courses run through the wonderful nature of Harju Country. Tallinn fuses historical heritage with multiform culture, characterized by its lively cafes, castles, churches and museums.
The competition center is located by the Baltic Sea. Even a 3-hour start delay due to cold sea conditions, didn't put them off.
The Ironman distances consist of a 2.4mile swim-122 mile bike- 26.2 mile marathon.
First back in his first ever IronMan was V40 Paul Whitehead in an impressive debut time of 10hrs 49mins 37secs , swim-1hr 20mins 56secs , bike- 5hrs 29mins 08secs, Run- 3hrs 46nins 48secs (352nd).
Another sub 11hrs was SL Katie Potter in 10hrs 55mins 01secs , Swim -1hr 10mins 43secs , bike -5hrs 40mins 04secs , Run - 3hrs 55mins 08secs, (375th).
Followed by SM Steven Waters in 11hrs 39mins 29secs , Swim -1hr 12mins 49secs, bike - 5hr 06mins 30secs, Run - 5hrs 07mins 04secs (552nd) out of 1104
Twilight 10K
This event took place on Torbay velo Park, put on by Tri club member Gary Burman and his family team.
Before the main event there were 1500 meter races for children aged 6 to 14, which was very well representative with some impressive and enthusiastic running.
The 10k followed which consisted of 180 runners, Gary also put in place paces for 40mins, 45mins, 50mins, and 60 mins, all pacers hit their targets to help others achieve their goals.
First back in a quick time of 32mins 49secs was Richard Waldron from Southampton AC.
First lady was Katie Knowles from Truro running Club in a swift time of 35mins 44secs , both male and female team prices were won by Torbay tri club.
This is becoming a very popular and well supported event. Definitely a date for your diaries for next year .
