Club athletes clock strong results in summer races

Bath Marathon

The ever-popular Bath Marathon attracts around 10,000 runners each year. Club member V60 Tiberius T Cash braved the warm conditions, crossing the line in 4hrs 55mins 16secs to complete his 18th marathon.

Badminton Half

Set in the scenic grounds of Badminton in the Cotswolds, the half marathon course combines stone paths, woodland trails and open meadows. Despite some sunburn, V45 Chris Martin put in a strong run, finishing in 2hrs 30mins 11secs. He placed 39th overall and 4th in his age category out of 558 runners.

Lightning Bolt 10k

Race four of the Lightning Bolt 10k series took place in the quiet Wiltshire village of Langley Burrell. Known for its flat, fast profile with just 14 metres of elevation, it was ideal for quick times. SL Naomi Flanagan thrived in the hot, sunny conditions, clocking 37mins 25secs to place 27th overall and 3rd lady in a field of 200.

British Aquathon Championships

In South Wales, V40 Gary Burman and V40 Debbie Burman made the long trip to Porthcawl for the British Aquathon Championships. With the swim leg cancelled, the race became a straight 5k. Gary finished in 20mins 00secs (43rd), while Debbie followed in 20mins 30secs (51st) – good enough for 1st in her age category.
