Top day for Topper series at Paignton SC

An impressive fleet of 115 sailors gathered at Paignton Sailing Club for the highly anticipated Topper National Series event.

The Topper, a beloved single-handed sailing dinghy, has delighted sailors worldwide for years.

The day began under slightly overcast skies with a breeze of about 10 knots, but as the hours passed, the sun broke through, illuminating the stunning coastline and creating the perfect backdrop for the competition.

Thanks to the hard work of dedicated parents and club volunteers, these young sailors launched into the breathtaking waters of Torbay.

Under the expert guidance of Race Officer Sean Semmens, four thrilling races unfolded back-to-back, showcasing the skill and determination of the participants before they returned ashore for a well-earned break.

On Sunday, although the morning began shrouded in a light mist, it quickly cleared to reveal light wind racing conditions with the final two races providing a significant advantage to the smaller, lighter sailors, adding another layer of excitement to the weekend.

This event was not just a competition; it was a celebration of sailing, camaraderie, and the beauty of the sport.
