It was a busy weekend of events involving Torbay Tri club members, including Spain, Rutland, Dartmoor and more local!

The World Championship Duathlon qualifier took place in Portevedra in Spain over two days, which included the sprint and standards distances, with two members flying the flag in very impressive style!

On the Saturday, the sprint event took place, which is 5k run/20k bike/2.5k run. V40 Dave Brown continued his impressive form and finished in an impressive 18th place overall.

V60 Wendy Urban went even better, making the podium for 3rd in the age category. Wendy took her performances to a new level on the Sunday, this time in the standard distance over an undulating course, 5k run /40k bike / 10k run. It was the podium again, this time 2nd in her age category.

The Dambusters Triathlon took place at Rutland reservoir and V45 Cassandra Pressling made the long journey up and had a successful day, finishing in 3hrs 17mins 19secs over the standard distance - swim 32mins 31secs / bike 1hr 40mins 14secs /10k 53mins 24secs 338th out of 402

The Dawlish Dash is an approximately four-mile, multi-terrain running race. It starts at Dawlish Warren and begins with an out-and-back section along the beach. Once off the beach, participants head towards Dawlish along the sea wall, cross the footbridge over the railway line and then head along the coastal footpath back to where they started at Dawlish Warren, crossing another footbridge. The route is mainly flat with just one climb.

Three club members made the short trip for this popular event put on by Dawlish Coasters. First back in 23rd was V60 Rich Smith in 25mins 27mins, followed by V50 Jerry Hocking 26mins 10secs, then Simon Johnson in 27mins 42secs out of 250

The Dartmoor Classic cycling event is raced over three distances, the Grande 107miles, Medio 66.6miles and Piccolo 46miles, with a very tough challenging course making its way from Newton Abbot towards Haytor, up towards Princetown, back through Postbridge, Moretonhampstead and then back through the Teign Valley with almost 6,000 feet of elevation!

Conditions were far from ideal with showers and blustery wind. Five club members took on the Medio and first back was V50 Shaun Collier in a swift time of 4hrs 19mins 47secs (101st), then the very impressive V70 Andrew Kilner in 4hrs 45mins (229th) plus 2nd in his age category.

Next was V50 Gary Brenton in 4hrs 47mins 42mins (245th), V60 Anne Fairey 5hrs 21mins 22secs (464th), V60 Steve Maddock 5hrs 21mins 53secs (467th), followed by V60 Graham Reynolds in 5hrs 45mins 35secs (591st) and V60 Chris Ripley in 5hrs 58mins 04secs, excellent times in those conditions.
