Summer signings at Buckland Athletic
We are reaching the point in the summer where football clubs are almost back for pre-season and fixtures schedules are being released for the new campaign.
The likes of Plymouth Argyle and Exeter will learn their 2025/26 plans on Thursday, June 26, while Torquay United have to wait until Wednesday, July 9 for the National League fixtures to be released.
Southern League clubs, including Brixham, will be given their schedules in early July, but the Western League fixtures are out, and Buckland Athletic, now under new management, start their campaign at home to newly-promoted Newquay AFC on Saturday, July 26.
The Bucks then make a midweek trip north to Barnstaple Town before the opening round of the FA Cup on Saturday, August 2. The next five fixtures include Wellington (H), Street (A), Nailsea & Twickenham (H), Sidmouth Town (A) and Bradford Town (H).
The Christmas schedule will see Buckland Athletic travel to Saltash United on December 20 and then host Ivybridge Town for the Boxing Day fixture. The Bucks are due to finish their campaign at Bridgwater United on April 18, although fixtures are subject to change with FA Cup and FA Vase games taking precedence.
Buckland manager Matt Cusack has been particularly busy in the recruitment department, adding eight new signings to the club.
Jordan Duffey (Goalkeeper), Jake Lane (Defender), Scott Pocock (Defender), Harry Bell (Defender), Sean Thomson (Midfielder), Philip Mendonca (Midfielder) and Cam Sangster (Midfielder) all arrive as new faces to the club and local fans look forward to seeing them in action over the coming weeks. Also making a return to the club is Sammy Stayt (Midfielder), who has previously made 105 appearances for The Bucks.
The fixtures are also out in the South West Peninsula League and Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police have been handed a brutally tough start.
First up for Stoke is a visit from Cullompton Rangers, who finished fourth last term, on Saturday, August 2. Crediton United are the next home opponents before testing away games at Bridport and Newton Abbot Spurs, who finished third and second last season.
Bovey Tracey have been busy in the recruitment department this summer and manager Ben Gerring will take his new-look side to Bishops Lydeard on the opening weekend. Bovey then welcome Torridgeside on August 9. Newton Spurs have a tough opener at home to Okehampton Argyle on Friday, August 1.
