V60 Peter Hayward travelled up from Torbay Triathlon Club to London to compete at the Olympic pool in the British Championships.

Pete had a very busy day, competing in multiple events with great success, backstroke 200m (5th), backstroke 100m (5th), backstroke 50m (6th) and 50m freestyle (7th).

The Fast 5000 is an event put on by City runs at Torbay Velo Park in Torbay, in dry but blustery conditions. Three Tri club members were looking for quick times on the quick fast track.

First back in a very competitive field was V40 Dave Brown in 17mins 16secs (30th), then V55 Jon Parkinson in a swift time of 18mins 07secs (45th). Just behind was Charlie Higginson in 18mins 11secs (50th), plus another strong run by V60 Cathy Parkinson, finishing in 21mins 54secs (85th).

The Rame Head Trail 10k is another well put together race by Sportiva Events, running around the stunning Mount Edgcumbe Peninsula. It’s a single loop 10k run that’s mostly on coast path with great views. It also has a good mix of hills and flatter, faster sections.

SM Matt Giles and his trusty companion Nev took part in the Canicross 10k, and they continued their winning ways, crossing the line in 1st place in 52mins 05secs.
