Awards for Tics volunteers

Torquay Athletic celebrating the vital volunteers

Torquay Rugby Club is rightly proud of all the volunteers who make the game possible at a grassroots level, and these unsung heroes are being rightly recognised.

The club said: “Volunteers are the heartbeat of grassroots rugby, and the Honda Volunteer Recognition Programme proudly celebrates their dedication!

Nigel Saunders was recognised as an Unsung Hero, while Chris Siddall received the Game for All award at the local CB awards—huge congratulations to both!

Chris Siddall’s outstanding commitment as a grounds volunteer at Torquay Athletic earned him a money-can’t-buy experience at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham. As one of only 12 groundskeepers selected nationwide, he had the honour of stepping onto the famous pitch, where his award was presented by Jim Buttar, RFU Grounds & Technical Operations Lead. In a truly unforgettable moment, Chris became one of the few to have the privilege of cutting the iconic pitch!

A heartfelt THANK YOU to all volunteers who make the game possible!”
