Whilst on a club trip to Mallorca, why not enter the Alcudia 70.3 Ironman event, that's just what V45 Paul Whitehead from Torbay Tri Club did and he finished in an impressive time of 5 hrs 11mins, 499th out of 2913.
The event comprised a 1.2-mile swim (35mins 26secs), 56-mile bike (2hrs 53mins 31secs) and 13.1-mile run (1hr 34mins 26secs).
In the Exe Valley sprint Tri, Cathy Parkinson kicked off her triathlon season in style, taking the 1st Vet 60 prize in a swift time of 1hr 25mins 58 secs, 44th out of 112 in the sprint after a 400m swim, 24k bike and 5k run.
There were 3,236 runners in the Plymouth Half Marathon, which is getting bigger every year. Conditions were challenging with heavy rain and among the runners were two Tri club members. First back in an impressive time of 1hr 34mins 09secs was V55 Jerry Butcher, 224th and 3rd V55, while V40 Katie Giles continued her good form, finishing in 2hr 10mins 47secs 2173rd.
Contrast to Plymouth, the sun was shining in Ottery St Mary's 10k, with an undulating course through quiet country lanes, organised by Honiton running club. V45 Cassandra Pressling had a strong run, finishing in 52mins 32secs,102nd out 305.
The Coast to Coast Copper Trail is a 11.5-Mile trail run from Portreath on the North Coast of Cornwall all the way across to Devoran Quay on the South Coast! Matt Giles and his trusty companion Neville had a successful day, taking 1st Man & Dog overall in the Canicross race in 1hr 25mins 16secs.
And finally, fresh from sub-3hr Newport Marathon, Jon Pressling ran the Saltash Half Marathon on a hilly, undulating course around the streets of saltash and through the surrounding countryside. Jon finished 5th out of 121 in 1hr 28mins 31secs, plus 1st Vet 40-44.
