Your intro to a summer on the water
Paignton Sailing Club is providing a unique taste of what it is like to get out on the water and learn to sail in their Discover Sailing event.
Pop along to Paignton Harbour on Saturday, May 3 from 10am – 2pm and you will experience dinghy sailing accompanied by experienced club instructors and dinghy sailing members. You will also get to have a look around the club, see the facilities and experience the friendly club atmosphere.
There will be opportunities to explore other ways to become involved in the club. Join the safety boats, chat to our galley volunteers and find out about the wide range of volunteer roles on offer. Children should be 8+ years old and adults are welcome at all times.
Paignton Sailing Club recommend wearing comfortable clothes and footwear that you don't mind getting wet (just in case) and bring a change of clothes. If the weather isn't very warm, a windproof coat would be beneficial. A buoyancy aid or lifejacket will be provided by the venue.
Don't worry if you've not been sailing before! You'll be taken out on the water with a qualified instructor or an experienced sailor. Please arrive 15 minutes in advance of your booking to register and get ready to go on the water.
You could bring a towel and maybe some spare clothes (particularly if you are bringing children). There will be changing facilities on site. Sun hats and sunscreen are also important. The club is looking forward to hearing from you and will be able to provide more details and answer any further questions you may have.
The event runs throughout the day from 10am – 2pm and you will need to register to book a space via the QR code.
If you are unable to join in on Saturday, May 3, Paignton Sailing Club has other opportunities for Discover Sailing on Friday nights from 5.30pm – 8.30pm on May 23, June 20, July 25 and August 22, registration is required in advance through either Juniors@paigntonsailingclub.co.uk or BigFriday@paigntonsailingclub.co.uk
