Soccer Profile take on West Brom
Amazing experiences for young footballers
Soccer Profile Devon Academy has kicked off 2025 in an incredibly productive manner, setting the stage for an exciting year ahead. The academy began by recruiting a talented new U16s squad, a group filled with potential and eager to take their development to the next level.
This fresh squad wasted no time in gaining valuable experience, stepping straight into competitive fixtures against esteemed opposition. In January, the team faced Plymouth Argyle and Bristol City, providing the players with a fantastic opportunity to test themselves against high-quality academy teams. These encounters were not just about competition; they served as a vital learning experience, allowing the young players to adapt to the demands of the game at an elite level.
The momentum continued into February with a highly anticipated half-term trip, promising even more exposure and developmental opportunities. The itinerary included matches against West Bromwich Albion and Preston North End, two renowned academies known for their strong youth set-ups. These fixtures provided an excellent platform for the players to showcase their talent, further honing their skills against top-tier opposition.
Beyond the matches, the trip offered invaluable experiences off the pitch. The squad had the privilege of participating in a training session led by an Everton FC academy coach, receiving expert guidance and insights that will undoubtedly contribute to their growth as players.
The learning did not stop there—one of the highlights of the trip was a stadium tour of Anfield, the historic home of Liverpool FC. Walking through the halls of one of the world’s most iconic football venues was an inspiring moment for the players, reinforcing their ambitions and dreams of reaching the professional level.
In addition to these experiences, the academy has already seen significant success this year. Four of its current squad members have made their debuts for Plymouth Parkway FC, a major milestone in their development. Furthermore, seven of the newly recruited players have been selected to represent the Devon FA U16's squad—an impressive achievement that underscores the academy’s ability to nurture top-tier talent.
These accomplishments highlight the programme’s ongoing impact in developing players and preparing them for higher levels of the game. They stand as a testament to the academy’s commitment to providing a clear pathway for young footballers, bridging the gap between youth development and senior football.
As 2025 progresses, Soccer Profile Devon Academy remains dedicated to offering its players the best possible opportunities to develop and grow. With a strong start to the year, the academy continues to demonstrate its role in nurturing young talent and preparing them for the highest levels of the game. The experiences gained from these early fixtures and training sessions will serve as a solid foundation for the challenges and successes that lie ahead.
The academy now turns its attention to preparing for its upcoming fixtures against Swansea City and Wolverhampton Wanderers—yet another chance for the squad to gain exposure, test themselves against top opposition, and continue their journey toward professional football.
