National glory for Keeley Little
Amazing achievement for Torbay athlete at England Champs
The past weekend was the climax of the indoor athletics season for the country’s best teenagers, as they converged on the English Institute of sport indoor track in Sheffield.
Torbay Athletic club only had one athlete make the journey to compete, Keeley Little in the Under-17 60m and 200m. On the Saturday, she contested the 60m heat, finishing 3rd in 7.71 seconds, a new Personal Best and new Torbay AC club record. In the semi, Keeley was 7th in 7.77 sec, not quite making the final.
On Sunday, Keeley competed in her specialist event the 200m where she was in scintillating form, going into the championships ranked fastest entrant from England. She dominated her heat, winning in 24.84 seconds, also a new PB
In the semi-final, she again won in 24.65 seconds, another a new PB, and in the final Keeley produced the race of her life to place third overall in another PB of 24.47 sec. Highest placed English athlete behind two guest athletes from Wales and Scotland.
Keeley was awarded the gold medal and became the English Under-17 National indoor 200m champion. This time officially ranks Keeley number one in England for the indoor season over 200m at Under-17 level.
