Latest results from Mid-Devon Cycling Club

Mid-Devon CC’s Lauren Fox battled back from a slow start to finish third at the fourth round of the National Trophy Cyclo-Cross Series in Hampshire.

Fox took a while to master the challenging new course at Clanfield, but she stormed through the Under-14 field, nearly finishing second, and maintained her second place overall in the championship.

In the same age-group James Allen overcame a 28th place on the starting grid to finish a gutsy 14th.

Other MDCC results: Vet50 – 5 Cathy Kilburn, 11 Jackie Shute, Men – 36 Martin Smith; Vet60 – 13 Robin Delve.

Matt Holmes and Bayley Woodger both rode well in the Newport Velodrome Youth Race Night.

Across Scratch, Elimination and Points races, Holmes had a third and two fourth places, while Woodger was fourth in the Scratch and third in the other two events.

On a storm-tossed weekend a strong squad of riders headed to Plymouth for Sunday’s latest round of the South West Cyclo-Cross League at Newnham Bottom.

MDCC results: U10 – 4 George Bleloch; U12 – 3 Freddie Simcock, 10 Henry Hatton, 11 Will Cook; U14 – 1 James Allen, 4 Ben Simcock, 5 Oliver Gray, 7 Thomas Bleloch; U16 – 3 Meryn Kitching, 4 Ben Picton, 5 Sam Gray; Vet40 – 7 Emily Simcock; Vet50 Ladies – 3 Nicky Quant; Men – 2 James Bovey, 11 Martin Smith; Vet60 – 11 Phil Smith.
