Torbay triathlete finishes on top

Wendy Urban stood on top of the podium for the second week running as a trio of Torbay Tri Club members headed to Roadford Lake for the Devon Duathlon Standard Distance race, which also doubled up as a qualifier for the 2025 European Age Group Championships.

Comprising a 10k run, 46k bike and 5k run, Wendy finished in 3.10.39 and was joined at the event by Simon Graham 2.54 and Frank Reay 3.04.32, who also produced strong performances at the race organised by Sportiva Events.

The opportunity to run possibly the fastest 10-miler in Devon attracted a team of club runners keen to test themselves in Bideford.

Taking in magnificent views of the Taw and Torridge estuary along the Tarka Trail, there was little time for sightseeing as Jason Hurford blasted his way around in a superb time of 56.29 for 14th place from over 600 finishers and was closely followed home by Jon Pressling in 60.48 along with Ian Dabbs who set a PB in 1.14.29 and Bobby Singh who also recorded a best 10-mile time in 1.23.26.
