Brixham scoring tries for fun
Rugby wins for Brixham and Torquay but Paignton defeated
Brixham RFC delivered a rousing display of attacking display to thump Ivybridge 62-12 and move up to fifth in the Regional 1 Tribute SW division.
Harry Rodwell started the fun with a try inside three minutes and this was swiftly followed by a converted score from Jordan Watson. The lead was extended to 19-0 when Louis Drennan dotted down just before the half-hour.
Andre Simonetti was the next Fisherman to cross the line and Brixham had their bonus point bagged before half-time. Ivybridge hit back with a try of their own but Joel Ashworth then dived over to restore momentum.
Even a red card for Drennan failed to disrupt Brixham, Connor Doneathy scoring next, followed by a penalty for a 41-5 lead. Matt Crosscombe joined the party with two tries in quick succession and the scoring was completed by Mitch Pinkus.
Next on the menu is a visit from Marlborough this weekend.
Paignton suffered their first defeat in the Counties 1 Tribute Western West division, going down 50-26 at Barnstaple 2nds. Alex Pozniak, Josh Gillard, Liam Cleaver and a penalty try scored the points for Paignton, plus extras from Brad McKee.
The Cherries are back on home turf this Saturday, when third placed Wiveliscombe are the visitors, so another big test for Paignton to resume their title push.
Torquay Athletic continued their romp in the Counties 2 Tribute Devon division, thrashing Exeter Saracens 60-0 in East Devon.
Matt Butler picked up the man of the match award for the Tics, scoring two tries on his first-team debut. Further tries came from George Mills, George Helmore, Lewis Harben (2), Callum Crocker, Jamie Blatchford and Morgan Alcock (2). Jack Akery and Crocker slotted the kicks.
