FA Cup fixture clash for Torquay United

Torquay United’s home game with Maidstone United has been postponed due to the Stones’ continued involvement in the FA Cup.

The fixture was scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 12 but Maidstone will now be on FA Cup duty after they secured a 1-0 victory at Herne Bay on the weekend.

Torquay United Women did get to play on Sunday, and despite horrendous conditions at Coach Road, the Gulls moved up to second in the SW Regional Women’s Premier League with a 4-2 victory over Poole Town.

In howling wind and rain, Sasha Mole made her long-awaited return to the bench after an ACL injury, although her team-mates fell behind in the opening five minutes. United quickly regrouped, Lucy Solloway scrambling an equaliser and Anthea Kaptein then scored a penalty.

Second-half goals from Kaptein and Lexie Watts sealed the points before a late Poole consolation.
