Another big win for Torquay Rugby Club

Torquay Rugby Club has made a ruthless start to the new season and Dartmouth were the latest victims of a Tics onslaught, as they were demolished 61-0 in the Tribute Counties 2 Devon division.

Joel Armitage ran in for three tries, there was a brace for Ryan Hanauer and further scores from Jack Akery, Mawgan Penrice, Josh Macklin and Adam Dart. Lewis Crocker added the extras.

Torquay 2nds were handed a walkover after Tavistock were unable to raise a side.

Brixham RFC suffered late disappointment at St Austell, as they squandered a substantial lead to eventually fall to a 22-26 defeat.

After falling behind to a converted try in the opening ten minutes, the Fishermen found their rhythm and drew level with a Mat Crosscombe score. Louie Drennan was next to cross the whitewash and a second try from Crosscombe, plus a Mitch Pinkus penalty, made it 22-7 at the break.

Whatever was said in the St Austell dressing room at half-time, it clearly worked, as they fought their way back into the game, aided by some ill-discipline from Brixham. The hosts then pinched victory with a late score.

Brixham Crusaders dished out a brutal 109-0 defeat on Plymstock Oaks ends, who battled valiantly despite struggling to raise a team.

It was another thoroughly entertaining afternoon of rugby at Queens Park, where Paignton triumphed 42-26 over Bude.

The Cherries performed superbly in the first period to lead 21-5, thanks to tries from Dewald Stoop, Franco Van Rooyen and Josh Gillard, with Brad Mckee doing the job with the boot. Bude battled back after the break but there was always breathing room for Paignton, Jordan Hodge, Harry Law and David Siddall adding further scores.

Lewis Swar (2), Shaun Dallow and Scott McKenna were the try scorers for Paignton 2nds in a 32-17 win at Kingsbridge 2nds.
